Dover-Sherborn Boys Dominate MSTCA Division 5 State Relays in Massive Turnaround
In a stunning reversal from last year’s weak showing, the Dover-Sherborn boys exploded onto the scene with a dominating performance to claim the MSTCA Division 5 outdoor state relay title at Triton Regional this Friday. After finishing tied for 18th last year with just 6 points, the Raiders posted 86 points, more than 30 points ahead of runner-up Weston. This marks their first outdoor relay championship in five years and a statement of sheer dominance.
Coach Rob Mosher hailed the team’s depth, with the Dodgers scoring in 13 of 15 events and earning three first-place wins—including the high jump relay, 1,600 sprint medley, and 4×100 sprint relay. Senior leaders Patrick Driscoll, Malachi Price, and William Lombard played pivotal roles in the victories alongside standout junior Charlie Barbosa, who cleared 5 feet, 10 inches in the high jump.
“We knew we needed to step it up and do something for our senior year,” said senior Patrick Driscoll. “We set the goal, put in the work, and it paid off.”
North Reading Girls Secure Historic 10th Consecutive Title
The North Reading girls’ team extended an unprecedented dynasty, capturing their 10th straight Division 5 outdoor relay championship with a commanding 98 points at the same venue. Their margin of victory over Weston (58 points) and Lynnfield (42 points) demonstrated the Hornets’ broad talent and balance, despite a roster featuring only five seniors.
Highlight athletes included senior Giuliana Auciello, who won the high jump at 4 feet, 9.75 inches and contributed to the 4×100 shuttle hurdles victory, and junior Kate Denehy, who dominated the long jump (17-05.25), secured second in triple jump, and anchored the winning 4×100 relay team.
Coach Sotirios Pintzopoulos praised the team’s surprising strength during what was expected to be a rebuilding year. “We couldn’t be prouder,” he said, highlighting multiple event wins including pole vault, discus, and javelin that propelled the Hornets.

The Vikings also placed third in the 4×100 and finished fifth overall, capitalizing on the spirited environment.
