Alice Carolyn Brooks Dies at 85 After Lifetime of Faith and Family Dedication
Alice Carolyn (Minton) Brooks, a cherished Kentucky native and devoted mother, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, surrounded by family in Gallatin, Tennessee.
Born on September 13, 1940, in Beaver Dam, Kentucky, Alice Brooks lived a life deeply rooted in faith and resilience. Her childhood on a 35-acre family farm and education at a one-room schoolhouse set the foundation for her unwavering dedication to hard work and family values.
From Kentucky Roots to Devoted Family Matriarch
Alice graduated in 1958 from Beaver Dam High School and quickly began her career as a typesetter and social columnist at the Ohio County Messenger. At 19, she married Thomas Duane Brooks, forging a 64-year partnership built on honesty and shared faith until his passing in December 2024.
Her professional career included roles at Bendix-Westinghouse Corporation and Mead Johnson Corporation in Indiana before she embraced homemaking in 1969, upon the birth of her first son. Alice was celebrated for nurturing her children with patience and love, instilling values that mirrored her own upbringing.
Faith, Family, and Lasting Impact
A lifelong Christian, Alice held her faith at the center of her life, inspiring those around her with kindness and integrity. She enjoyed travel, including a memorable hot air balloon flight over Albuquerque and a trip across the UK and France tracing her ancestral roots.
She was known for her love of classic country music legends George Jones and Patsy Cline and treasured simple pleasures like stargazing—passions passed down from her mother.

Alice Brooks passed having outlived many close family members, including her husband Thomas and granddaughter Aleya Nicole Lin Brooks. She is survived by her sons Jason Thomas Brooks and Stephen Duane Brooks, her brother Warren Douglas Minton, and four grandchildren.
