Bluffton Baseball Routed by Lincolnview 20-1 as NWC Leaders Dominate

Lincolnview Lancers Crush Bluffton Pirates 20-1 in Northwest Conference Blowout

The Bluffton High School baseball team suffered a staggering 20-1 loss to unbeaten conference powerhouse Lincolnview on Thursday, April 30, as the Lancers seized control early and never looked back. This rout underscores Lincolnview’s dominance in the Northwest Conference (NWC) and leaves Bluffton struggling to recover.

Lincolnview exploded for an astounding nine runs in the first inning, capitalizing on four Pirate errors to seize a commanding lead. The Pirates were unable to mount any meaningful offense early, as the Lancers added three runs in both the second and third innings, pushing the score to an overwhelming 15-0 by the fourth. After a scoreless fourth from both sides, Lincolnview added another five runs in the fifth, triggering the 10-run mercy rule that ended the game with the Pirates’ only run coming in the bottom half of the fifth.

Bluffton’s record dipped to 2-8-1 overall and 1-4 in league play, while Lincolnview improved to 10-2 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the NWC. The Pirates were out-hit 13-1 and committed all four errors in the Lancers’ first-inning offensive barrage, while Lincolnview played flawlessly with no errors.

Key Players Highlight Lincolnview’s Dominance

Chayse Overholt led the Lancers offensively and on the mound, delivering a no-hit pitching performance while striking out five batters and driving in two runs. Seth Brant hammered two doubles and a single, collecting four RBIs. Gavin Evans contributed with a two-run double. Holden Price accounted for three RBIs on a single, and Jackson Ingledue added a two-run single, showcasing the depth of Lincolnview’s lineup.

Despite the bruising loss and defensive lapses early, Bluffton pitcher Evan Blue kept the damage minimal in the first inning by conceding just one hit and no earned runs, although he took the pitching loss as the runs mounted.

Lima Central Catholic Tops Bluffton 3-0 After Rain Delay

Earlier in the week, Bluffton’s matchup against Northwest Conference rival Lima Central Catholic (LCC) was suspended by rain in the second inning with the score knotted at 0-0. Once play resumed Wednesday, April 29, LCC took full advantage to shut out the Pirates 3-0 behind a masterful pitching effort.

Brady Malcom dominated on the mound for LCC with a two-hit shutout, striking out nine and walking just one over seven innings. Louis Knotts led the Thunderbird offense, driving in a run with two singles. Contributions came from J.J. Schnieders and Andrew Baldauf, both scoring on singles and walks.

The Pirates were held to just two hits, with Parker Lovell slashing a solo double. Robby Taylor, Bluffton’s senior pitcher, earned the hard-luck loss despite allowing just one earned run over five innings and fanning two. LCC’s victory improved their record to 8-4 overall and 4-1 in the NWC, securing second place in the league standings.
