Bill Dandreo Honored with 2025 Patriot Award for Veteran Support

Bill Dandreo, a resident of Swampscott, has been named the 2025 recipient of the Lynn Veterans Council Patriot Award. The award was presented on March 5, 2025, in recognition of Dandreo’s extensive contributions to the veteran community, particularly his volunteer work and financial support for various memorial projects in the Lynn area.

Dandreo, who operates Dandreo Bros. General Contractors & Masonry, has been actively involved in projects such as the Jared Raymond Memorial, the Bradley Campus Memorial, and the Richard Fecteau Memorial. His commitment to honoring veterans extends to organizing and contributing to local parades that celebrate their service.

During the surprise award ceremony held in Mayor Jared Nicholson‘s office, Dandreo expressed his gratitude, stating, “It is my honor to be involved with veterans. I’m happy they allow me. I’m not a veteran myself, but it’s a way of giving back. I’m very passionate about doing everything I can for them.” He acknowledged the unexpected recognition, saying, “I didn’t expect this, but I’m very appreciative of everything they’re acknowledging today, and I’m hopeful to continue to help out where I can.”

The event also featured citations from Mayor Nicholson and Ward 1 Councilor Pete Meaney, who emphasized the importance of Dandreo’s contributions. Nicholson remarked on the visible impact of Dandreo’s efforts, stating, “You can physically see a manifestation of your hard work and support for the veterans and the memorials around the city. We appreciate that dedication, the quality of the work, and the values that stand behind it.”

Meaney, a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the Veterans Council, underscored the significance of Dandreo’s commitment to local veterans, declaring, “It’s well deserved.”

The selection of Dandreo for this year’s award was explained by Veterans Council President Charlie Griffin, who highlighted Dandreo’s readiness to assist whenever needed. “He never hesitates to help out, and he always takes on challenges and gets the job done,” Griffin said. “He doesn’t just talk the talk; he’s very involved. For many years now, he’s been a driving force in recognizing veterans.”

Griffin noted the community’s admiration for Dandreo’s projects, stating, “He doesn’t want any pats on the back, but it’s a big deal to us. He’s done an excellent job, and we wanted to let him know publicly that we appreciate him.”

Director of Lynn-Swampscott Veterans’ Services, Mike Sweeney, echoed these sentiments, describing Dandreo as a dedicated advocate for veterans and their families. “He’s been stellar with taking care and honoring veterans and their families since I’ve known him. I couldn’t think of a better, more deserving person for the award,” Sweeney said.

Through his unwavering dedication and impactful projects, Bill Dandreo continues to make a significant difference in the lives of veterans in the Lynn community. His recognition with the Patriot Award not only honors his past contributions but also inspires ongoing support for those who have served.
