URGENT UPDATE: The beloved event Seuss on the Loose is set to return to downtown Elizabethton on Saturday, March 7, from noon to 3 p.m., promising a vibrant celebration of literacy and the whimsical works of Dr. Seuss. This highly anticipated event is organized by the Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department, Main Street Elizabethton, and the Elizabethton-Carter County Public Library.
Families are encouraged to kick off the festivities at the Elizabethton-Carter County Public Library, where attendees can pick up a “Sneetch Sheet” and a map to guide them through a series of exciting activities scattered throughout downtown. This year’s event features numerous participating locations including August Muse, Elizabethton Alliance Church, First Christian Church, Red Legacy Recovery, Riverside Taphouse, The Curious Moon Apothecary, and The Wicked Whit Metaphysical.
Families can expect a range of engaging activities, including guest readers, crafts, and delicious Seuss-themed treats. After collecting stickers at each stop, participants can head to Covered Bridge Park, where Elizabethton Parks and Recreation will showcase themed decorations inspired by Dr. Seuss’s beloved characters, including the Cat in the Hat and The Grinch.
Additionally, the park will feature fun activities hosted by community partners, free inflatables for children, and an array of food trucks offering tasty options. Participants must return their completed Sneetch Sheets to the red mailbox in the gazebo by 2:45 p.m. for a chance to win exciting prizes.
Community partners contributing to the park’s festivities include the Children’s Advocacy Center, ECS Family Resource Center, Elizabethton River Riders, Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachians, Northeast Community Credit Union, and UT Extension Carter County.
