Urgent Candlelight Vigil Tonight for Fallen Trooper Cpl. Snook

URGENT UPDATE: A candlelight vigil is set to take place tonight in honor of fallen Delaware State Police trooper Cpl. Matthew “Ty” Snook. The event, organized by the Police Athletic League of Delaware, will begin at 7 p.m. at the PAL Center located at 7529 Lancaster Pike in Hockessin.

Attendees are strongly encouraged to RSVP in advance to assist organizers in preparing for the expected turnout. This vigil comes in the wake of a tragic incident that occurred on Tuesday of last week, where Cpl. Snook, aged 37, was shot and killed by Rahman Rose at a DMV in Minquadale. Following the shooting, a responding officer from New Castle County shot and killed Rose.

Cpl. Snook leaves behind a devastated family, including his wife and their one-year-old daughter, who will be remembered tonight as the community gathers to pay their respects. The emotional gathering is expected to draw community support and solidarity for Snook’s family during this heartbreaking time.

In addition to the vigil, a celebration of life for Cpl. Snook is scheduled for January 5 at the University of Delaware’s Bob Carpenter Center in Newark, providing another opportunity for the community to honor his service and sacrifice.

This gathering is an urgent call for the community to unite and show their appreciation for the bravery and dedication of Cpl. Snook, whose life was tragically cut short in the line of duty. As the event unfolds, it stands as a poignant reminder of the risks faced by law enforcement officers every day.

Residents are urged to participate in both events to show their support and to remember the life of a dedicated officer who served with honor. The Police Athletic League and the Delaware State Police are coordinating efforts to ensure a respectful and heartfelt tribute.

Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story as the community comes together to honor a true hero.
