Rosalie Scorza Morell, a cherished member of the Palmyra community, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2024, at the age of 83. She was predeceased by her husband, Gary Morell, with whom she shared 43 years of marriage.
Born in Poughkeepsie, New York, Rosalie grew up in Hyde Park before moving to Palmyra after her marriage. She is survived by her three children: Deanna Morell, John Morell (Michele), and Diane Kelly. Her family also includes six grandchildren—Collin, Alyssa, Nicolette, Lillian, Hanna, and Emma—and a son-in-law, Nathan Roberts. She is remembered fondly by her sister, Phyllis Plass (Robert), her nephew, Andrew Plass, and her niece, Christine Holder, along with numerous cousins.
Rosalie was deeply involved in community activities, dedicating her time to clubs, Zion Episcopal Church, and Grace House. Her contributions to these organizations left a lasting impact on those around her.
Visitation for family and friends will take place on March 6, 2024, from 16:00 to 18:00 at Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapels, located at 123 E. Jackson St., Palmyra. A funeral service will follow on March 7, 2024, at 10:00 at Zion Episcopal Church, situated at 120 E. Main St., Palmyra, New York. Rosalie will be laid to rest at the Palmyra Village Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Rosalie’s memory to either Zion Episcopal Church or Grace House, located at 120 E. Main St., Palmyra.
