The Prince of Wales engaged with children who shared their experiences at the club, which offers programs ranging from cooking to gaming and podcasting. In his remarks, William underscored the importance of family meals, stating that children should not be “by screens or disappearing off elsewhere.” His comments reflect a broader commitment to fostering a nurturing environment for young people.
Meeting with Youth Shedz Founder
During his visit, William toured the various activities available at Youth Shedz, guided by its founder, Scott Jenkinson. Jenkinson, who has overcome personal challenges, including addiction and homelessness, shared his journey with the prince. When Jenkinson’s wife, Sian Jenkinson, was present, William asked her, “Were you there with Scott when he turned his life around?”
Sian replied affirmatively, noting her husband’s impressive transformation. Jenkinson acknowledged his wife’s support, stating, “With my wife behind me. You know that.” In a moment of warmth, William responded, “This is it. Behind every average man there is an even better wife,” highlighting the importance of partnership and support.
Though Princess Catherine was not present at this engagement, her influence was felt. Earlier this year, the couple celebrated 14 years of marriage, marking the occasion with a trip to the Isle of Mull and announcing a community project. Their connection to the region is significant, as it is where they first met as students at the University of St Andrews.
