Riot Games Unveils Urgent Details on Riftbound: Spiritforged Expansion

UPDATE: Riot Games has just announced critical details about the upcoming expansion for its popular trading card game, Riftbound: Spiritforged, set to launch in English on February 13, 2026. This expansion follows its debut in China on December 12, 2025 and promises to deliver exciting new gameplay mechanics, Champion Legends, and collectible content.

Players can gear up for a thrilling experience with twelve new Champion Legends including fan-favorites like Rek’Sai, Draven, and Irelia. The expansion will introduce innovative mechanics such as Equipment, Gold, and Repeat spells, enhancing strategic gameplay. Equipment cards provide lasting power, remaining in play even if their attached units are defeated, while Gold tokens introduce flexible power generation, particularly for champions like Draven and Renata. Meanwhile, Repeat spells allow players to amplify effects by paying a card’s cost a second time.

Riot Games emphasizes that Spiritforged blends the steelwork themes with the mysticism of Ionia’s Spirit Blossom universe, enriching both card design and champion identities. Additionally, collectors will enjoy Spirit Blossom-themed alternate art, along with 30 Overnumbered cards and 12 Champion Units added to the Overnumbered series.

At the recent PAX Unplugged event, Game Director Dave Guskin revealed more about the expansion, stating, “We learned a tremendous amount from how players engaged with Origins. Spiritforged builds on that foundation with new Champion Legends, new mechanics, and even greater collectability.” Players can expect new Signature variants for select Overnumbered cards, further enhancing gameplay.

Looking ahead, Riot has confirmed the next three sets in the Riftbound series for 2026: Unleashed in May, Vendettas in Q3, and Radiance later in the year. Unleashed will introduce new Champion Legends such as Vi, Rengar, and Master Yi, while Vendettas will delve into long-standing rivalries with champions including Akali, Mel, and Ambessa.

For competitive players, Riot is organizing a series of Regional Qualifiers, kicking off in Houston, Texas, from December 5-7, 2025. Additional events will take place in Bologna, Italy, from February 20-22, 2026, and Las Vegas from February 27-March 1, 2026. A total of 12 Regional Qualifiers are planned throughout 2026, with more details expected soon.

Riot Games is clearly set to elevate the gaming experience for players and collectors alike. The excitement surrounding Riftbound: Spiritforged is palpable, as fans eagerly await this innovative expansion. Stay tuned for more urgent updates as release dates approach and further details emerge.
