UPDATE: Coon Rapids City Hall has just launched its annual ‘Season of Giving’ donation drive, urging residents to contribute to local charities in urgent need. The drive kicks off today, November 24, and will run until December 15, providing an essential opportunity for community support during the holiday season.
Residents can drop off donations at City Hall, located at 11155 Robinson Drive, where collection bins are conveniently placed in the front lobby. The drive operates from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. This critical initiative aims to assist local families facing challenges during the holidays.
Among the most needed items are non-perishable food such as canned goods and whole grains. Additionally, new and unwrapped toys for children of all ages, winter coats, and personal toiletries are being collected. Each category directly supports a partner charity that identifies specific needs within the community.
ACBC Food Shelf is urgently requesting high-need items including flour, oil, and baby food. Meanwhile, Toys for Joy is seeking new toys, particularly for older children aged 12-18, including small electronics and gift cards. Alexandra House has highlighted a pressing need for new or gently used winter coats and children’s boots. Additionally, Granny’s Closet is collecting various household and personal care items, ranging from men’s razors to laundry detergent.
For those wishing to contribute, additional drop-off locations include the Coon Rapids Ice Center, Bunker Hills Golf Club, and all Coon Rapids Fire Stations, where toys and food will also be accepted.
It’s crucial to note that each charity has specified the types of items they are in urgent need of, highlighting the importance of these donations to not only brighten the holidays for many but also to assist with their everyday necessities. A complete list of high-priority items can be found on the City of Coon Rapids’ official website.
Participating in this drive is more than just giving; it’s about fostering community spirit and supporting one another during challenging times. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps weave the fabric of support that holds this community together.
