Angelo’s legacy spans decades in the Central Coast community, where he inspired countless students and athletes. Born on September 23, 1939, he grew up in Santa Cruz, where he cultivated a passion for education and sports that would define his life’s work. His family recalls a man who embodied perseverance and positivity, qualities that resonated deeply with those who knew him.
Angelo’s academic and athletic achievements were remarkable. Graduating as salutatorian from Santa Cruz High School in 1958, he earned a place on the All-CCAL lightweight basketball team and received a scholarship offer to UC Riverside but chose to attend San Jose State University instead. There, he graduated with honors and received induction into the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society.
Following his education, Angelo served in the United States Army Reserves before embarking on a distinguished career as a teacher at Mission Hill Junior High School from 1964 to 1999. Angelo was deeply rooted in his family, living in the same Santa Cruz home where he grew up. He is survived by his sister, Diane Marguerite Treseler, her husband, and his beloved nieces and great-nephew, who remember him fondly.
