UPDATE: Gerald R. Cote, a distinguished former Vice President of General Electric, has passed away at the age of 85. He died on November 12, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of professional excellence and deep family connections.
Cote was born on July 21, 1940, in Derry, NH. He graduated from Pinkerton High School before earning a degree in Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His career at General Electric spanned over three decades, during which he held various management roles across multiple locations, ultimately becoming a Vice President in both Schenectady, NY, and Louisville, KY.
Jerry married his beloved wife, Sally, in July 1963. Together, they shared a life filled with joy, sports, and family. Cote was not only a dedicated father but also a passionate sports enthusiast, excelling in multiple sports during high school and playing football in college.
As a father, he cherished his time coaching his late son, Brian, in little league and high school baseball, creating lasting memories that defined their family bond. Later in life, Cote developed a passion for golf, becoming both a competitor and a social player with friends and family.
A lifelong fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox, Jerry engaged with every game, showcasing his unwavering loyalty to his teams. His love for sports was matched only by the immense joy brought to him by his two great-grandchildren, Sunday and Archer.
Jerry is predeceased by his wife Sally and son Brian. He is survived by his sons, Andrew (Sydney) and Christopher (Julia), who continue to honor his memory.
In accordance with Jerry’s wishes, no formal service will be held. Family and friends are encouraged to make memorial contributions in his name to The Foundation for Ellis Hospital, located at 1101 Nott Street, Schenectady, NY 12308.
