Provo Man Arrested on 12 Felony Charges for Sending CSAM

UPDATE: A Provo man faces 12 felony charges after allegedly attempting to send child sexual abuse material (CSAM) to an undercover officer. Josue Daniel McBride, aged 32, was arrested on November 10, 2025, by the Lehi Police Department and is currently held without bail at the Utah County Jail.

The alarming case began when an undercover officer posed as an adult male with a 13-year-old nephew on a social media platform. The officer’s post used emojis indicating sexual attraction to minors, prompting a direct message from McBride that referenced CSAM using similar emojis. This interaction highlights a serious and disturbing trend in online child exploitation.

Court documents reveal that the conversation escalated to discussions about sexual acts, with McBride allegedly asking for explicit photos of the undercover officer’s nephew. He reportedly offered to send videos of minors engaging in sexual activities in exchange for these photos. Shockingly, McBride sent explicit videos of naked children and even discussed his desire to meet in person.

The undercover officer, recognizing the danger, ceased communication and reported the situation to authorities. Detectives were able to apprehend McBride as he exited his workplace, effectively preventing further potential harm.

Why This Matters: This case underscores the urgent need for vigilance against online predators targeting vulnerable children. The arrest comes amid increasing concerns over child safety in digital spaces, making it crucial for community members to be aware and report suspicious activities.
