Wardynski’s Partners to Provide Food for 1,000 Families

In a significant initiative to support families in need, Wardynski’s in Buffalo, New York, has teamed up with a local bakery to provide food assistance for 1,000 families through FeedMore Western New York. This collaboration comes as more than 200,000 people in the region rely on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, highlighting the urgent need for community support.

A Legacy of Giving Back

Raymond “Skip” Wardynski, owner of F. Wardynski & Sons, emphasized the family’s longstanding commitment to philanthropy. “My grandfather always told me, ‘You give until it hurts, and if it doesn’t, you’re not giving enough,'” he stated. This principle has guided the business for over 106 years, with Wardynski expressing gratitude for the community’s support and the importance of giving back.

“Business is good, and we appreciate the support from the community. And that’s why we give back to the community always,” he added. Wardynski is actively encouraging other businesses to participate in similar initiatives to help those struggling to make ends meet.

Increasing Demand for Nutritional Assistance

Collin Bishop, the chief communications officer for FeedMore WNY, noted a growing demand for nutritional assistance in the area. “We are noticing an increase in people seeking help. If someone who receives SNAP needs to visit a pantry multiple times a month because they are not receiving enough support, there needs to be additional options available,” he explained.

Bishop further emphasized the necessity for a steady supply of food donations to complement what pantries can offer. “We need to have wholesale products and donations, like those from Wardynski, to help supplement the food that families wouldn’t otherwise have access to.” This partnership aims to address the gaps in food security for local families and strengthen community ties.
