UPDATE: Brassfield Estate Winery in Clearlake Oaks, California, has just announced the successful completion of its 2025 harvest, marking a significant milestone for the vineyard. The cooler temperatures throughout the growing season have resulted in ideal conditions for grape cultivation, leading to an exceptional vintage.
The winery, a leading force in Northern California’s wine scene, reports that the harvest commenced just days later than usual, with Sauvignon Blanc picked from the estate’s High Serenity Ranch. It concluded by mid-October with Cabernet Franc, yielding an average of approximately four tons per acre from its 500 acres of vineyards.
According to Jonathan Walters, Vice President of Vineyard and Winemaking Operations, the standout varietal for this vintage is Cabernet Sauvignon, which displays remarkable potential for quality. “Cabernet is shaping up to be the quality leader of this harvest,” states Walters. “We are seeing very elegant tannins coupled with some great acidity, which we attribute directly to the cooler-than-average growing season.”
The ideal weather conditions, characterized by steady ripening and minimal heat spikes, have contributed to the development of beautifully balanced fruit. This year’s Sauvignon Blanc, already fermented to dryness, showcases bright aromatics and minerality, exciting the winemaking team for the upcoming bottling.
“The 2025 vintage is shaping up to be iconic,” asserts Chris Baker, President of Brassfield Estate Winery. The combination of nature’s cooperation and the team’s meticulous care promises wines of distinctive quality that truly capture the essence of the High Valley AVA.
Located at elevations ranging from 1,800 to 3,000 feet, Brassfield Estate Winery is renowned for its commitment to sustainable farming and precision winemaking, producing seventeen varietal wines from vine to bottle without outside intervention.
