Former School Supervisor Charged with Felony Sexual Abuse

BREAKING: A former campus supervisor at Mount Whitney High School, De Jaun Jones, faces serious felony sexual abuse charges stemming from accusations of inappropriate behavior with minors. The Tulare County District Attorney’s office has filed 11 felony counts against Jones for misconduct during the 2022-2023 school year. This urgent case has drawn national attention due to its disturbing nature and the alleged long history of predatory actions by Jones.

Attorney Brendan Gilbert, who represents the victims, revealed that one of his clients was awarded $8 million in a previous sexual abuse case against the Visalia Unified School District. Gilbert described Jones as a “textbook predator,” stating, “He’s victimized minor females essentially everywhere he’s gone in his life at different jobs.”

The allegations against Jones include exchanging nude photos with a 15-year-old girl and engaging in inappropriate touching. Gilbert disclosed that Jones had previously been fired from Mount Whitney High in 2013 for similar misconduct. “Mount Whitney High School did everything right in 2013 but then they did everything wrong when they brought him back in 2022,” Gilbert stated.

In addition to the accusations from the high school, Gilbert confirmed that Jones has a troubling history of similar behavior at Monache High School in the Porterville Unified School District and at an In-Shape gym. Authorities report that at least three young women have come forward with credible allegations against Jones, amplifying the urgency of this case and the need for accountability.

Jones’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 13. If convicted, he faces significant prison time and mandatory registration as a sex offender. The Visalia Unified School District has not responded to multiple requests for comment regarding this serious situation.

As the details continue to unfold, this case raises critical questions about school safety and the responsibility of educational institutions to protect their students. Community members and parents are urged to stay informed as this developing story impacts the lives of many.
