The 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade promises an exciting lineup of performers, featuring a diverse array of artists, including Ciara, Lil Jon, Kool & the Gang, Busta Rhymes, Mickey Guyton, and Teyana Taylor. Scheduled for November 27, 2024, the parade will also highlight the cultural phenomenon surrounding the Netflix film “KPop Demon Hunters,” showcasing its soundtrack artists and characters in balloon form.
This year’s parade will kick off at 08:30 in all time zones, welcoming an impressive 32 balloons, three balloonicles, 27 floats, 33 clown groups, and 11 marching bands. The beloved Santa Claus will make his traditional appearance to conclude the festivities. Returning to host the event are familiar faces from the “Today” show: Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, and Al Roker, with additional stars set to be announced in the coming weeks.
Broadway and Iconic Characters Join the Festivities
Broadway will make a significant presence with performances from casts of “Buena Vista Social Club,” “Just in Time,” and “Ragtime.” The renowned Radio City Rockettes will also participate, alongside notable athletes like three-time U.S. national champion figure skater Ilia Malinin and U.S. Paralympian Jack Wallace.
This year, four new character balloons will debut, featuring Buzz Lightyear, Pac-Man, Mario from Super Mario Brothers, and a whimsical 32-foot-tall balloon onion carriage showcasing characters from “Shrek.” Previous parade favorites, such as the Rainbow Trout and Freida the Dachshund, will also make a return to celebrate the event’s history, leading up to its 100th anniversary next year.
A Celebration of Music and Community
The musical lineup is equally impressive, with appearances from Jewel, Debbie Gibson, Drew Baldridge, Matteo Bocelli, Colbie Caillat, Gavin DeGraw, and Shaggy, among others. The marching bands participating hail from various states, including South Carolina, California, Texas, and even Santiago, Panama, showcasing a rich tapestry of musical talent.
Last year, the parade attracted over 31 million viewers on NBC and Peacock, marking a 10% increase from the previous year and setting a record for viewership. As spectators gather along the parade route, they can expect an energetic atmosphere filled with cheer and excitement, making this annual event a cherished highlight of the holiday season.
