Chilly Temperatures Hit Alabama: Snow Possible This Week!

UPDATE: Alabama is bracing for a chilly start to the work week as a blast of cold air sweeps through the state tonight. The National Weather Service warns temperatures could plummet into the 30s and 40s, with frost expected in many areas.

As the work week kicks off on November 6, 2023, residents should prepare for a cold morning, particularly in northern Alabama where temperatures are forecasted to dip below freezing. Meanwhile, areas in the south might see lows in the mid-40s. Today, Sunday, could also bring light rain, mainly affecting northeast Alabama.

Despite the chilly forecast, warmer conditions are set to return later this week. The National Weather Service projects a significant warm-up beginning on Tuesday, with highs expected to reach the 60s and 70s by the end of the week. Some southern regions may even touch the 80s again by Friday.

Cloud cover will contribute to cooler temperatures today, with many parts of the state seeing highs only in the 50s. Northeastern Alabama faces the highest chance of rain, while most of the state will remain dry. Frost is a concern for both north and central Alabama, and even southern regions could experience patchy frost.

Looking ahead, no significant precipitation is expected until at least Friday, when a slight chance of rain may return to northern Alabama. The Climate Prediction Center indicates a 40-60 percent probability for above-average temperatures across Alabama from November 9-15.

The upcoming week will see a drastic shift as temperatures rise, with Friday’s highs projected to range from the low 70s in the north to the upper 70s and low 80s in the south. This may signal the end of the cold snap, making way for a pleasant weekend ahead.

Stay tuned for updates as the forecast develops, and prepare for changing weather conditions throughout the week!
