Mary Margaret “Peggy” Putanko, an 87-year-old matriarch and former resident of Uniontown, passed away peacefully in her home in Simpsonville, South Carolina, on October 8, 2025. A native of Edenborn, she was born on June 1, 1938, to the late Stephen and Margaret Havrilla Plisko.
Peggy was known for her unwavering devotion to her family. She was married to her husband, Joseph Putanko, for 56 years until his passing in June 2017. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Plisko, and her cherished dog, Daisy.
Family Legacy and Survivors
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Jodie Putanko Cales, son-in-law Kevin Cales, and granddaughter Madison Cales. Her family legacy continues through her surviving siblings, including Elaine Chury (the late Richard), Lanny Plisko (Elaine), Marlene Guappone, Judi Kolencik (Edward), and Kenny Plisko (Jani). She is also remembered fondly by her sister-in-law, Vanessa Plisko, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held to honor her memory. Peggy’s life was characterized by love and commitment, leaving a lasting impact on her family and community.
