BREAKING: Authorities have successfully apprehended a shooting suspect in Pullman, Washington, just hours after a tip-off. Osman Morales-Salto, wanted on a staggering $5 million arrest warrant, is facing multiple charges including six counts of first-degree assault linked to a shooting incident that occurred early Sunday morning in Pasco.
The Pullman Police Department received information from the Pasco Police Department late Tuesday evening regarding Morales-Salto’s possible presence in the Aspen Heights area on Military Hill. In response, law enforcement quickly mobilized, deploying the Whitman County Regional SWAT Team, Pasco Street Crimes Unit, and Latah County Regional SWAT Team to confirm his location.
After several hours of surveillance, Morales-Salto was arrested without incident on July 12, 2023. The public is currently advised to steer clear of the Aspen Heights area as investigations continue. Authorities have evacuated the complex, which houses approximately 100 address buildings, while securing the scene and collecting evidence.
Although officials state there is no ongoing threat to public safety, the evacuation has led to significant disruptions. Students from Washington State University displaced by the incident are being relocated to the CUB Senior Ballroom, while non-student residents are temporarily sheltered at the Pullman Senior Center located at City Hall.
This incident involves a coordinated effort from multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Pullman Police Department, Pasco Police Department, Washington State University Police Department, Washington State Patrol, and the Latah County Sheriff’s Office. All agencies are working together to ensure public safety and gather crucial information regarding the shooting case.
As the situation develops, residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and stay informed. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
