The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Israel Police conducted a successful operation on March 5, 2024, resulting in the elimination of three terrorists near Jenin in the West Bank. This operation was executed in coordination with the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts in the region.
In a joint statement, the military announced that the targeted cell was involved in planning an imminent attack and had previously participated in organizing terror activities within the Jenin refugee camp. The operation commenced when officers from the Counterterrorism Unit, acting on intelligence from the IDF and Shin Bet, tracked the suspects to a cave. Upon identifying their location, the unit engaged the terrorists, resulting in a firefight. Following this, an airstrike by the Israel Air Force targeted the cave from which the attackers had emerged.
Arrests of Suspected Inciters in Hebron
In a separate but related effort, police forces collaborated with paratroopers from Battalion 202 to detain several individuals in the Hebron area who are suspected of inciting terrorism. The operation focused on locating two key suspects known for their online activities that encouraged acts of violence against Israeli citizens.
These arrests were made possible through cooperation with the Yehuda Region Police. Following their apprehension, authorities seized the suspects’ mobile phones for further investigation. Law enforcement also discovered and confiscated tools believed to be used in the manufacturing of weapons, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in the region.
The IDF’s latest operations underscore their commitment to countering terrorism and maintaining security in the West Bank, particularly in areas like Jenin and Hebron where tensions frequently escalate. The actions taken reflect a broader strategy aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and preventing future attacks, essential for the safety of both Israeli citizens and the stability of the region.
