BREAKING: Tensions erupted in Addison, Illinois, as federal agents detained three individuals, igniting protests that drew dozens to Lake Street earlier today. Video footage captured the moment federal agents shattered a car window before taking the driver and two passengers into custody outside the La Huerta grocery store.

Eyewitnesses report that around four to five ICE vehicles were present in the vicinity as the situation unfolded. Protester Maria Sinkule described the scene, stating, “They didn’t have a judicial warrant, no expedited removal order. They didn’t have any of that.”

The driver was released after confirming her immigration status, but the incident left the community in shock and fear. “This really impacts my community,” Sinkule added. “People are too scared to go to the store; my students are too scared to go to school.”

In response to the escalating tensions, community member Allison Galvan mobilized support, saying, “There are people I love and care about that are impacted by this. I am using my privilege as a U.S.-born citizen to fight for my people.”

Concerned citizens gathered outside La Huerta to express their solidarity and frustration over what they are calling “Operation Midway Blitz.” Mayor Tom Hundley issued a statement affirming his commitment to a respectful community, despite federal limitations.

Authorities have not yet provided detailed comments on the incident. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has been contacted for further information but has not responded. In a separate statement, DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin discussed a related situation in Chicago, indicating federal operations are facing increasing hostility. “Our officers are facing a 1000% increase in assaults against them,” she stated, emphasizing the seriousness of law enforcement’s mission.

The Addison incident highlights growing tensions surrounding immigration enforcement and community safety. As the situation develops, residents remain on high alert, continuing to voice their concerns about the impact of federal actions on local lives.

WHAT’S NEXT: Community leaders are expected to meet in the coming days to discuss strategies for mobilization and education, as residents seek to navigate the uncertain climate. Protecting their community and advocating for those affected by federal enforcement actions will remain at the forefront of ongoing discussions.
