URGENT UPDATE: A powerful storm system has swept through Colorado’s mountains, delivering significant early-season snowfall to several ski resorts overnight. As of Friday morning, October 24, 2023, Beaver Creek Resort has emerged as the clear winner, boasting a remarkable 8 inches of fresh snow.

The storm affected the I-70 corridor, with Vail Mountain closely following Beaver Creek, reporting 6 inches of new snow. Summit County resorts experienced lower accumulations, with Copper Mountain receiving approximately 2 inches according to its snow stake camera. Loveland reported 3 inches, while Keystone shared on social media that they had “a few inches” of snow.

Arapahoe Basin logged 2 inches as well, with officials indicating that an official opening day has yet to be announced. The resort encouraged skiers and riders to prepare their equipment, echoing similar messages from Keystone and Loveland, who are poised to open as soon as conditions permit.

As of 10:30 a.m. Friday, Breckenridge had not released any official snowfall totals, while Aspen and Snowmass mountains saw around 2 inches of snow. Further north, Winter Park and Steamboat endured less favorable conditions, only receiving minimal snow at their summits.

This early snowfall is generating excitement among winter sports enthusiasts, as resorts gear up for the ski season. As conditions continue to develop, skiers are urged to stay tuned for updates regarding official opening dates.
