A new bubble tea cafe has opened its doors in Portland’s Nasons Corner neighborhood, bringing a fresh wave of flavors to the area. Miss Sweet Bubble Tea, located at 897 Brighton Ave., occupies the space formerly held by Tin Pan Bakery. The cafe officially launched in April 2023, offering a wide array of bubble teas, fruit teas, classic teas, and frozen drinks.

Owner Keri Li, who has a long-standing presence in the Greater Portland restaurant scene, expressed enthusiasm for the growing popularity of bubble tea. “Bubble tea is really popular everywhere in the world right now,” Li said. “It’s a sweet drink, and it makes people happy.” In addition to beverages, Miss Sweet Bubble Tea features a selection of snacks including pork buns, spring rolls, egg tarts, and crab rangoon, complemented by desserts like cookies and puddings.

The cafe currently operates as a takeout service, but plans are underway to introduce outdoor seating next year, enhancing the customer experience.

Experience and Background in the Restaurant Industry

Keri Li holds over 30 years of experience in the restaurant industry, co-owning China Villa in Westbrook and previously managing the now-closed Jan Mee in Portland and Jan Mee II in Gorham. This extensive background has equipped her with the insights needed to cater to the diverse tastes of local patrons.

Miss Sweet Bubble Tea is open from Wednesdays to Mondays, operating between 11:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. This new establishment adds to the growing trend of bubble tea shops in Maine, indicating a significant shift in consumer preferences and dining options in the region.

As bubble tea continues to capture the hearts and taste buds of many, Miss Sweet Bubble Tea stands out as a new destination for those seeking a delightful drink and a taste of Asian-inspired snacks.
