Mountain Mike’s Pizza Set to Open New Location in Union City

Mountain Mike’s Pizza, the popular West Coast chain recognized for its family-friendly dining and classic pizza offerings, is preparing to launch a new location in Union City, California. The restaurant will be situated at 31852 Alvarado Blvd., occupying the former spaces of Round Table Pizza and Dollar Star. According to a recent liquor license application, the anticipated opening date is set for December 2025, subject to final buildout and permitting.

Franchisee Gurpreet Buttar shared with What Now San Francisco that this new Union City outlet marks an important expansion for the brand in the Bay Area. Buttar, alongside business partner Raj Gill, previously opened a Mountain Mike’s in East Palo Alto in 2023, adding to their portfolio of five locations across the Bay Area, including Fremont, Milpitas, and Belmont. Their strategy focuses on capitalizing on the increasing popularity of Mountain Mike’s throughout the western United States.

Founded in 1978 in Palo Alto, Mountain Mike’s Pizza has expanded significantly over the years, now boasting nearly 300 locations across states such as California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, and Texas. The chain is well-regarded not just for its extensive pizza menu but also for its inviting atmosphere, making it a favored choice for families, sports fans, and group gatherings.

What to Expect from the New Location

The Union City restaurant is expected to mirror the amenities found in other regional stores. Customers can look forward to large-screen televisions, arcade games, and an all-you-can-eat salad and pizza buffet. Additionally, the establishment will offer beer and wine, in keeping with Mountain Mike’s full-service model.

Menu highlights will include the brand’s signature items, such as the curly pepperoni pizza and specialty selections like the Everest, Mt. Veggiemore, Spicy Himalayan Pizza, and Chicken Club. Alongside these, patrons will have the option to enjoy wings, garlic sticks, salads, oven-baked sandwiches, and an array of desserts, including cinnamon pizza and mini churros.
