UPDATE: The Rochester Grizzlies faced a tough defeat against the West Bend Power, losing 3-1 in a North American 3 Hockey League game at the Rochester Recreation Center earlier today. This marks their third consecutive loss, raising urgent concerns about the team’s performance as they struggle to reclaim momentum.
Despite dominating puck possession and outshooting their opponents 14-6 in the first period, the Grizzlies fell behind once again, conceding the first goal of the game. Elias Holan, assisted by Armani Fisher, found the net, leaving Rochester trailing as they entered the first intermission.
The second period was quieter, contrasting sharply with Friday’s high-scoring match. However, the Power managed to capitalize on their chances, with Holan and Adam Sexton scoring standout goals. The Grizzlies did respond late in the first period when Andrew Bastian netted his second goal of the weekend during a power play, yet their offensive efforts faltered thereafter.
Rochester’s power play has been a significant letdown; after performing well with a 3-for-6 rate last game, they converted only 1-for-8 against West Bend. Goaltender Peter Burke of the Power delivered a stunning 40-save performance, ensuring his team’s victory and marking their ninth win of the season.
With this loss, the Grizzlies now sit at 5-4-0, and the urgency to turn their season around grows. They will have a chance for redemption when they face the Power again next Friday, October 24, 2023, at 7 p.m. in Rochester.
Stay tuned as we continue to monitor the Grizzlies’ efforts to break this losing streak and regain their competitive edge.
