The Indianapolis Colts have placed cornerback Charvarius Ward Sr. on injured reserve, ensuring he will be sidelined for at least the next four games. Ward suffered a concussion during warmups before the Colts’ recent victory over the Arizona Cardinals, which has now led to his absence from the team’s practices leading up to their upcoming match against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Ward, who joined the Colts in 2023 after stints with the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, has contributed 13 tackles and three passes defensed during his four games with Indianapolis this season. The 29-year-old cornerback’s earliest potential return will be for the Week 12 road game against the Kansas City Chiefs on November 23, 2023, as the Colts have a bye week in Week 11.

Colts Adjust Roster Following Injuries

In addition to placing Ward on injured reserve, the Colts made several roster adjustments. They signed running back Ameer Abdullah to the 53-man roster from their practice squad. Abdullah, a 10-year veteran, has participated in two games this season, carrying the ball three times for 13 yards and a touchdown. Throughout his career, he has amassed a total of 2,007 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns, including nine rushing and 11 receiving.

The Colts’ decision to sign Abdullah comes after running back Tyler Goodson was ruled out due to a groin injury. Furthermore, cornerback Cameron Mitchell and wide receiver Laquon Treadwell have been elevated from the practice squad to bolster the roster.

As the Colts prepare for their game against the Chargers, they continue to monitor the status of several injured players. Cornerback Kenny Moore II is listed as questionable due to an Achilles injury, while wide receivers Josh Downs (concussion) and Ashton Dulin (chest) have been ruled out for the matchup.

With these roster changes and upcoming games, the Colts aim to maintain their competitive edge in the league despite the recent challenges posed by player injuries.
