Tony Khan Supports Samoa Joe’s Continued Career at AEW
Tony Khan, President and CEO of All Elite Wrestling (AEW), addressed speculation surrounding Samoa Joe‘s retirement plans during a recent interview with Conrad Thompson. In light of Joe’s comments about potentially retiring after his current AEW contract, Khan emphasized that the accomplished wrestler still has significant time left with the organization.
During the interview, Khan stated, “I think Samoa Joe still has years left with AEW, which is great.” He expressed excitement for Joe’s continued presence in the wrestling world, highlighting his status as one of the top stars in the industry today. The conversation turned to the idea of a retirement tour, a concept Khan is open to considering when the time is right. He noted, “If and when the time ever comes for Samoa Joe to hang them up, I hope that AEW will be able to pay great tribute to somebody that is one of the most accomplished stars ever in AEW.”
Joe’s Title Challenge at AEW WrestleDream
Samoa Joe is set to challenge Hangman Page for the AEW World Title tonight during WrestleDream, taking place at the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri. This match marks a significant moment for Joe, as he aims to reclaim the championship he previously lost to Swerve Strickland at AEW Dynasty in April 2023, also held in this arena.
Khan expressed enthusiasm for the matchup, noting the narrative depth it brings: “Having a chance to get it back from somebody that he’s worked so closely with, somebody who’s such a great champion in and of himself, the face of AEW, the world champion, Hangman Page.”
Fans eagerly anticipate the event, which will be broadcast live on pay-per-view. The atmosphere promises to be electric as Samoa Joe steps into the ring, not only fighting for the title but also for a legacy that has solidified him as one of the great champions in wrestling history.
As the wrestling community watches closely, Khan’s statements reaffirm that Samoa Joe remains a vital part of AEW’s future. With a legacy yet to be fully written, Joe’s journey continues to captivate fans around the world.
