Monroe, May 1 — The PCM girls golf team fired a season-best 403 at the PCM Mustang Classic, securing a strong fourth-place finish against a tough seven-team field at Gateway Recreation Golf Course. The home tournament on May 1 saw standout performances from freshman and veterans alike as PCM battled top-ranked opponents in a fast-paced, competitive event.

Gretchen Uitermarkt led the Mustangs with a career-best 95, closely followed by freshman Kayla VanderLinden who scored a personal record 100. Seriah Nolin and Annie Ford each carded a 104 to round out the scorers contributing to PCM’s overall tally. Freshman Lucy DeHaai joined as a non-counting scorer, shooting 115, while Emilyn Davis made her 18-hole season debut with a score of 106.

PCM Outpaces Several Top Programs in Intense Field

The Mustangs’ total of 403 placed them well ahead of Bondurant-Farrar at 420, Winterset scoring 436, and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont with 460. Despite the strong showing, powerhouse Gilbert High School claimed the title with a commanding team score of 338. Des Moines Christian and Williamsburg completed the top seven teams, finishing with scores of 356 and 363, respectively.

Gilbert’s Ava Lohrbach dominated with a tournament medalist round of 75, followed by her twin sister Ella Lohrbach at 80. The Lohrbach twins, both committed to Drake University, demonstrated why Gilbert remains a tough contender in Class 3A. Des Moines Christian secured three top-10 individual positions, highlighting the tournament’s intensity.
