New Hampton Girls Soccer Breaks .500 Mark With Big Win at Denver Tourney

New Hampton Girls Soccer Climbs Above .500 After Strong Win at Denver Tournament

The New Hampton Chickasaws girls soccer team boosted their season record to 5-4 following a commanding 4-1 victory over Washington at the Denver Tournament this past Saturday. The decisive win demonstrated the Chickasaws’ balanced offensive firepower and renewed confidence heading into the final stretch before regional play.

Four different Chickasaws found the back of the net in the crucial win: junior Kimber Dungey, freshmen Amelia Uribe and Brynlie Anderson, and senior standout Tegan Dungey, who leads the team with an impressive 10 goals this season. On defense, sophomore goalkeeper Vanessa Salas made four key saves, helping seal the victory for New Hampton.

“It feels good to see the players rewarded for their effort and growth. They’ve been training with purpose, and today they showed confidence, composure, and a real commitment to our style of play,” said head coach Fayssal Talib. “Wins are always great, but seeing the team improve and trust each other — that’s the best part.”

Denver Tournament Split Highlights Team Resilience

Earlier in the Denver Tournament, New Hampton faced a harsh setback against the No. 3 ranked host team, the Cyclones, falling 10-0. Despite the tough loss, freshman goalie Rylie Rochford recorded four saves, underscoring the team’s effort even in defeat.

Prior to the tournament, the Chickasaws showed momentum with a dominant 4-0 shutout over Postville last Thursday, marking their second shutout against the Pirates this season. Kimber Dungey led the offensive charge with two goals, joined by goal scorers senior Tegan Dungey and senior Keziah Uglum, who netted her fourth goal on the year.

Despite a narrow 3-1 loss to Clear Lake earlier in the week, New Hampton’s strong individual and collective performances have set the stage for critical upcoming matches. In that game, Tegan Dungey was the lone scorer and Vanessa Salas made seven saves, continuing to show resilience under pressure.

Senior Night Marks Last Home Game Milestone

The Chickasaws recently celebrated Senior Night against Decorah, honoring key seniors who have been instrumental throughout the season. Tegan Dungey’s leadership and scoring prowess remain central to the team’s success as they push toward regional playoffs.

With the season rapidly approaching its final phase, New Hampton’s mix of experienced seniors and high-potential underclassmen has created a dynamic squad capable of competing on multiple fronts. Fans and supporters will be watching closely as the Chickasaws prepare for their upcoming regional battles, fueled by recent growth and resilience shown in tournament play.

The Chickasaws’ latest performances highlight the unpredictability and excitement of high school soccer, resonating far beyond New Hampton as a testament to teamwork, perseverance, and emerging talent.

What’s Next for New Hampton?

As regional matchups loom, New Hampton must maintain its offensive depth and defensive resolve. The current 5-4 record positions them just above .500 and within striking distance of a strong postseason run. With key contributors hitting their stride, the Chickasaws are poised to make an impact.
