The Penguins wasted no time, establishing a commanding two-goal lead after the first period. Atley Calvert spearheaded the offense, netting two goals, with the first coming just minutes into the game after Rafaei Harvey-Pinard scored at the 12-minute mark off assists from Chase Pietila and Ryan Graves.

The Penguins extended their lead to 3-0 thanks to Avery Hayes, who scored his second power-play goal of the season. The Wolfpack responded with two goals, narrowing the gap to 3-2 with 14 minutes remaining in the game.
