De Mujer a Mujer, a program of the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance (GRCA), is now accepting nominations for its seventh annual De Mujer a Mujer Awards. These awards celebrate the contributions and achievements of women within Berks County and the Greater Reading area. The winners will be recognized during a special ceremony scheduled for June 11, 2024.
Community members are invited to nominate individuals in three distinct categories: the Community Impact Award, which honors a woman whose dedication to service and leadership has fostered lasting change; the Young Changemaker Award, aimed at women aged 18 to 25 who are already making significant contributions and demonstrate potential for future leadership; and the Small Business Owner Award, recognizing entrepreneurs whose business success positively influences the local economy.
The deadline for submitting nominations is May 1, 2024. Individuals can complete the nomination process by visiting the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance website at www.greaterreading.org/2026mujerawards.
Nominating Process and Criteria
Nominations must be submitted through an online form that requires specific details about both the nominee and the nominator. This includes the nominee’s contact information, job title, company, and tenure in their current role. Additionally, the form asks for a statement explaining why the individual is being nominated, along with their accomplishments over the past two years that have positively impacted the community.
Nominators may also submit supporting documents, such as articles or testimonials, to strengthen their nomination. A selection committee composed of community leaders will evaluate all submissions, and the winners will be unveiled during the awards ceremony on June 11.
Questions regarding the nomination process can be directed to Jackie Stiles via email at [email protected] or by phone at 610-898-7785.
A Celebration of Empowerment
The awards ceremony will not only commend the achievements of outstanding Latina women in Berks County but will also provide attendees with valuable insights into financial empowerment. Abigail Torres and Michelle Leguisamon from Finanta will offer practical advice on enhancing financial literacy, making informed money decisions, and achieving long-term financial stability.
De Mujer a Mujer acts as a vital platform for developing women leaders, connecting individuals from diverse backgrounds to share knowledge, ideas, and mentorship. The program hosts events conducted in Spanish, aiming to create connections and foster strategic alliances among women in the community.
This year’s awards promise to be a significant event, recognizing the accomplishments of women who shape the fabric of Berks County while also equipping future leaders with the tools necessary for continued success.
