The Carson City Chamber of Commerce is set to honor eleven remarkable women with the prestigious Women of Distinction Award on March 25, 2026. This recognition, held annually during Women’s History Month, celebrates women who have made significant contributions to the community. Since the award’s inception in 2020, a total of 43 women have been recognized for their impactful work across various sectors.
This year’s awards luncheon will take place at Casino Fandango, starting at 11:30 a.m.. The event will feature keynote speaker Kaitlyn Nguyen, a senior at Carson High School, who will share her inspiring journey toward securing a full-ride scholarship at a prestigious university. Her story exemplifies the spirit of empowerment that the Women of Distinction Award embodies.
Honorees Making a Difference

Bekah Bock, a trained social worker, plays a crucial role in the Carson City Mobile Outreach Sheriff’s Team (MOST). Working alongside law enforcement, she assists individuals in mental health crises, focusing on compassionate intervention to maintain their dignity and prevent unnecessary incarceration.
Jeanne Freeman serves as the director of Carson City Health and Human Services. Initially appointed to lead the COVID-19 field response team, she was later promoted to oversee all health programs in the city. Her leadership is essential for keeping the community informed and healthy.
Angila Golik, a dedicated educator at Carson High, has significantly influenced students’ futures. As an adviser for the Future Business Leaders of America for 15 years, she helped students launch a business magazine that raised over $70,000 for school programs.
Stephanie Hicks, the deputy city manager, ensures the smooth operation of various city departments. A certified planner, she actively engages with community committees and is a graduate of the Chamber’s Leadership Institute Class of 2024.
Janelle Hoover, vice president and chief nursing officer at Carson Tahoe Health, focuses on enhancing behavioral health services. Her efforts to improve adolescent care highlight her commitment to the community’s well-being.
Dolly Kaur, owner of Flavors of India, founded the Flavors Foundation to support those in need. The foundation funds local nonprofits and provides essential resources to those facing hardships.
Dr. Sandra Koch, a retired obstetrician-gynecologist, has dedicated her career to improving women’s health. She has been active in legislative efforts to enhance access to reproductive healthcare and supports various local organizations.
Lucia Maloney, general manager of the Nevada State Prison Preservation Society, is working to make the prison a historical attraction. As president of the C-Hill Foundation, she aims to restore the C-Hill flag, a significant symbol of the city.
Dr. Jan Marson, a pediatric occupational therapist and founder of the Carson City Rural Child Advocacy Center, focuses on helping children with developmental differences and mental health needs, particularly in underserved communities.
Teri Green-Preston, a real estate professional and chair of the Carson City Chamber, has been an integral part of local boards and commissions, contributing to various community initiatives.
Dana Ryan, vice president of Academic and Student Affairs at Western Nevada College, develops programs to align education with local job market needs, ensuring students are prepared for future employment.
