Berkshire Humane Society Hosts Free Pet Food Distribution Event

The Berkshire Humane Society is set to distribute free pet food for cats and dogs during a drive-through event on February 7, 2024. This initiative will take place at the Becket Washington Elementary School, located at 12 Maple Street, from 09:00 to 11:00. The event is organized in collaboration with the Becket Food Pantry to support pet owners in need.

During the distribution, pet owners will remain in their vehicles while volunteers load the food into their cars. Each cat owner will receive a six-pound bag, while dog owners will receive a 20-pound bag of food. No questions will be asked, ensuring a straightforward process for those who require assistance.

This event is open to all pet owners in the community, reflecting the commitment of the Berkshire Humane Society to support families and their pets. The food distribution is made possible through donations from the Martin Family Donor Advised Fund, the Eichenbaum/Archer Family Foundation, and an anonymous private foundation. These contributions highlight the community’s solidarity in addressing the needs of local families.

The Berkshire Humane Society also welcomes donations to continue providing pet food for families experiencing financial difficulty. Monetary contributions are preferred, as they enable the shelter to purchase nutritious food in bulk, maximizing the impact of each dollar donated.

For more information about the event or to make a donation, individuals can contact the Berkshire Humane Society at 413-447-7878, ext. 127. This initiative not only aids in sustaining the health and well-being of pets but also strengthens community ties during challenging times.
