Ducks Bounce Back with 4-3 Win Over Golden Knights

The Anaheim Ducks secured a much-needed victory on March 24, 2024, defeating the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 at home. This win marked the Ducks’ return to form after a two-game losing streak, following a successful stretch that saw them win seven consecutive games. With this victory, Anaheim has positioned itself back into playoff contention.

Strong performances from key players fueled the Ducks’ success. Chris Kreider scored two goals, while Cutter Gauthier and Ryan Poehling each added another. Additionally, Troy Terry returned from an eleven-game absence due to an upper body injury, contributing two assists. Goaltender Lukas Dostal made 28 saves, helping secure Anaheim’s fourth straight home win.

Ducks Take Control Early in the Game

Kreider set the tone early, putting the Ducks on the board at 13:21 of the first period. The goal came when a pass from Poehling deflected off Kreider’s skate and crossed the goal line. Just over a minute into the second period, Kreider extended the lead to 2-0. A shot from Jacob Truba was redirected by Kreider, marking his 19th goal of the season, making him the second-highest scorer on the team.

The Ducks continued to dominate when Gauthier scored his team-leading 24th goal during a power play at 4:32 of the second period. His shot from the left circle found the back of the net despite traffic in front of the goal, giving Anaheim a commanding 3-0 lead.

The Golden Knights managed to respond, pulling one goal back at 9:47 of the second period. Mark Stone set up Mitch Marner, who capitalized on a defensive lapse to score, narrowing the deficit to 3-1.

Golden Knights Struggle to Keep Pace

Vegas continued to fight back, cutting the score to 3-2 at 10:40 of the third period. Ivan Barbashev tipped in a shot, marking his third consecutive game with a goal after a lengthy 16-game drought without scoring.

As the game neared its conclusion, Poehling secured the victory for the Ducks by scoring into an empty net with 1:07 remaining, assisted by Terry. Despite Tomas Hertl scoring for Vegas with just 5.3 seconds left, the Ducks held on for the win.

This victory marks a crucial moment for the Ducks, who have now achieved a clean sweep over the Golden Knights in their season series, winning all three matchups, including two in overtime. With this win, Anaheim improves its standing and aims to build momentum as the season progresses.
