PMMI Unveils SMB FastTrack Program to Boost Medium-Sized Manufacturers

The SMB FastTrack program, initiated by PMMI, aims to enhance the growth potential of small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in the manufacturing sector. The program will be introduced at PACK EXPO East 2026, scheduled from February 17 to 19, 2026, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. This initiative is designed to streamline access to essential resources, technology, and education tailored for SMBs.

Enhancing Access and Connections

The SMB FastTrack program focuses on addressing the specific needs of smaller manufacturers by simplifying the planning process for attendees. Participants will benefit from intuitive tools and visual identifiers, allowing them to connect effortlessly with exhibitors and educational sessions aligned with their growth objectives.

Exhibitors that cater to SMBs will be easily identifiable through SMB Friendly icons in both the online exhibitor directory and on the show floor. This designation will highlight offerings such as flexible financing and relevant services tailored for smaller enterprises. For instance, exhibitors showcasing machinery will feature a gear icon, enabling attendees to locate specific solutions quickly.

In addition to the exhibitor support, PACK EXPO East 2026 will offer a dedicated learning track focused on SMBs. Educational sessions will cover vital topics including workforce development, artificial intelligence, food safety, digital manufacturing, lean operations, cost-effective packaging solutions, startup supply chain strategies, and scalable technologies. The SMB-friendly designations will also extend to the online session directory, guiding attendees toward relevant programming.

“The SMB FastTrack Program removes barriers to innovation by connecting SMBs directly with the solutions, resources, and partners they need most,”

says Laura Thompson, Vice President of Trade Shows at PMMI.

Streamlined Planning and Innovative Features

The program offers integrated tools that enhance the overall experience at PACK EXPO East. A dedicated landing page will provide access to curated directories of SMB-friendly suppliers, recommended sessions, and planning tools. Features like the Sustainability Solutions Finder and Visual Category Search will assist attendees in organizing their show experience effectively.

Additionally, for the first time, the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce will participate, offering regional business resources and services to support company growth. Thompson emphasizes the importance of maximizing each moment at the expo, stating, “PACK EXPO East isn’t just about technology — it’s about relationships. The SMB FastTrack Program makes those connections easier to establish and more impactful.”

PACK EXPO East will also introduce AI-powered tools to facilitate the search for packaging and processing solutions. The AI Category Search feature allows users to input a solution or upload an image of their end product to receive tailored product category recommendations. Similarly, the AI Search Pilot provides guided, step-by-step packaging and processing advice based on an end product, linking to relevant exhibitor categories.

With approximately 500 exhibitors expected, PACK EXPO East will cover more than 40 vertical markets, showcasing innovations in automation, efficiency, sustainability, and materials relevant to sectors such as food and beverage, life sciences, cosmetics, personal care, and industrial chemicals.

New additions to the event include the Containers and Materials Pavilion, which highlights recyclable and biodegradable packaging solutions, and the Incubator Hub, created in partnership with Ben Franklin Technology Partners. This hub will spotlight innovative startups from Pennsylvania, showcasing next-generation technologies and ideas that are shaping the future of packaging and processing.

Returning attractions will include the Reusable Packaging Pavilion and the Association Partner Pavilion. Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit the Workforce Development Pavilion, where educational institutions and industry partners will provide resources aimed at strengthening the workforce in packaging and processing, including training opportunities through PMMI U.

Beyond the exhibits, attendees can engage in a variety of educational and networking opportunities, including free presentations at the Innovation Stage and Industry Speaks, as well as receptions such as the Taste of Philly Opening Reception and the Young Professionals Networking Reception. The new Philly Snack Stop will offer daily networking opportunities on the show floor.

Moreover, the event will host “Vision 2030,” an immersive forum designed for leaders and decision-makers in the packaging and processing sectors, requiring separate registration. As the premier packaging and processing event on the East Coast, PACK EXPO East serves as a platform for decision-makers and innovators to exchange ideas and evaluate solutions, providing a head start on 2026 projects.
