Game Freak Unveils ‘Beast of Reincarnation’ for Summer 2026 Release

Game Freak, the renowned developer behind the Pokémon series, has announced its upcoming action RPG, Beast of Reincarnation, during the Xbox Developer Direct showcase. The game is set to launch in the summer of 2026 on the PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC platforms.

The gameplay presentation revealed that Beast of Reincarnation takes place in a post-apocalyptic Japan in the year 4026. It is characterized as a “one-person one-dog action RPG,” aiming to evoke feelings of warmth, trust, and loneliness in its players. Early impressions suggest that the game merges elements reminiscent of popular titles such as Dark Souls and Monster Hunter, featuring striking monster designs and intense combat that combines real-time action with turn-based mechanics.

A notable aspect of the game is its emphasis on the bond between the protagonist and their canine companion, which hints at interactive features, including the ability to pet the dog.

The development of Beast of Reincarnation spans over six years, with the project initially introduced in 2023 under the codename Project Bloom. Since then, the game has experienced a shift in publishing; it was originally associated with Private Division, a label previously part of Take-Two Interactive. Following a restructuring, this label has been rebranded as Fictions.

While Game Freak is best known for its work on the Pokémon franchise, the studio has explored various smaller-scale ventures, including titles like Pocket Card Jockey and Tembo the Badass Elephant. With Beast of Reincarnation, the studio is venturing into its largest non-Pokémon project to date.

The anticipation surrounding the release of Beast of Reincarnation is palpable, as fans eagerly await more details on the game’s immersive world and gameplay elements. As summer 2026 approaches, the excitement for this innovative title continues to build, promising a unique experience in the action RPG genre.
