Man and Two Juveniles Arrested in Vehicle Theft Operation

UPDATE: A man and two juveniles have been arrested in connection with a string of stolen vehicles recovered early Thursday morning in Newtown. The arrests occurred after police responded to an abandoned vehicle report at the intersection of Aunt Park Lane and Hundred Acres Road at 1:15 a.m.

Police quickly connected the abandoned vehicle to a motor vehicle crash reported shortly after at 1:36 a.m. on Butterfield Road. The crashed vehicle was registered to a resident of Aunt Park Lane. During their investigation, Lt. Scott P. Smith of the Newtown Police Department confirmed that both vehicles involved were stolen.

Witnesses reported seeing a third vehicle being driven slowly in the vicinity of Butterfield Road. A responding patrol officer located the vehicle, which contained four individuals, including 19-year-old Rashaun Woods from Stratford. He was seated in the front passenger seat alongside two juveniles in the rear, aged 13 and 15.

Police arrested Woods and the two juveniles after confirming their involvement with the stolen vehicles. Woods faces multiple charges, including larceny of a motor vehicle, evading responsibility, operating without a license, and improper turn. He is currently held on a $25,000 bond and is set for arraignment in Danbury Superior Court later today.

One of the juveniles has been charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of burglary tools. The second juvenile faces charges of larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of burglary tools, and weapons in a motor vehicle. Both juveniles were taken to the hospital for minor injuries resulting from the crash before being released to their parents.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding vehicle theft and juvenile involvement in criminal activities. Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods.
