URGENT UPDATE: Idell (Dubose) Lude, a cherished mother and community member from Yorktown, Texas, has passed away at the age of 86 on January 1, 2026. Her family announced her death with heavy hearts, mourning a life dedicated to love and care.
Born on March 31, 1939, to George and Lucy Dubose, Idell was a proud graduate of Yorktown High School and later completed her education at Victoria Beauty College. She began her career at the Modern beauty shop in Yorktown, where she became known for her warmth and skill.
Idell married her beloved husband, David William Lude, on November 11, 1961, at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Weesatche, Texas. Together, they built a loving home in Crestview, welcoming two sons, Jeffery David Lude and Garrett Wayne Lude. Idell embraced her role as a stay-at-home mom, dedicating herself to raising her boys, especially caring for Jeffery, who had special needs. Her selflessness and devotion were hallmarks of her character.
Idell was admired for her talents in sewing, cooking, crafting beautiful Christmas decorations, and maintaining her stunning gardens. Her beautiful yard was a testament to her nurturing spirit. Throughout her life, she lived quietly and with grace, earning the respect and love of everyone around her.
She is preceded in death by her husband David, her son Jeffery, and her parents. Idell is survived by her son Garrett Wayne Lude, his wife Dianne (Kleinkauf) Lude, and her granddaughter Sarah Louise Lude, who resides in California.
A visitation will take place from 9 AM to 10 AM on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, followed by a funeral service at 10 AM at Massey Funeral Home. Interment will occur at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Steven Schulze, Glenn Karnei, Paul Wauson, Allen Kolodziejczyk, Gerald Allison, and Gary Cowey.
