UPDATE: A disturbing incident unfolded in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, as an 18-year-old woman reported being sexually assaulted by a male acquaintance during a night out. The incident occurred late on December 26, 2023, and is under investigation by local authorities.
Police were alerted to the situation when the victim arrived at the University Circle police station at 1:45 a.m. She was found inside a yellow Volkswagen, parked in the station’s lot, where she disclosed that the driver had assaulted her at Forest Hills Park earlier in the evening.
According to the woman, the driver, who she had met two months prior and had been “officially dating” for just a couple of days, picked her up from her home in North Ridgeville around 8:30 p.m.. After arriving at the park, he allegedly offered her alcohol and marijuana before forcibly engaging her in sexual acts, despite her objections. The woman claimed that the driver, aged unknown, physically restrained her by grabbing her hair, causing her distress.
After the alleged assault, the driver took the victim to an RTA stop at Cedar Road and Martin Luther King Boulevard before bringing her to the police station. He reportedly told her that law enforcement would not believe her claims, adding to her distress.
Police have not confirmed the driver’s identity or age, but the investigation is ongoing as they gather evidence. The victim was taken to a local hospital for examination and to assess the potential for sexual assault.
In a separate incident on December 27, 2023, officers responded to reports of a disturbance involving a 38-year-old woman causing chaos at her father’s home. The woman, who had been recently hospitalized for psychiatric issues, was removed from the residence after attempting to fight family members and damaging property. She was charged with disorderly conduct.
These incidents highlight the urgent need for community awareness and support for victims of sexual violence and mental health issues. Local authorities urge anyone with information related to these cases to come forward.
