URGENT UPDATE: Firehouse Subs has officially closed its only location in Annapolis, leaving fans of the sandwich chain without a nearby option. Located in the Festival at Riva shopping center, the restaurant’s doors have shut for good, as confirmed by officials from Restaurant Brands International, the parent company of Firehouse Subs, Tim Hortons, Burger King, and Popeyes.
The sudden closure comes as a surprise to many, particularly as Restaurant Brands International is actively expanding its other brands in the area. Notably, Tim Hortons announced plans to open 10 new locations in Howard and Carroll counties earlier this year.
On visiting the location, it was evident that the restaurant had already been cleared out, with kitchen equipment and furniture removed. A plain sheet of white paper on the door simply stated “closed.” The closure has raised questions among loyal customers who now have to travel further for their favorite hot subs.
Despite the closure, Restaurant Brands International assured customers that they can still enjoy Firehouse Subs at nearby locations in Severna Plaza and Waugh Chapel. However, the company did not provide specific reasons for the Annapolis location’s closure when contacted for comment.
This closure adds to the challenges faced by the shopping center, as it follows the recent shutdown of Party City, which went out of business this year. The loss of these establishments impacts local employment and shopping options, raising concerns about the future of the Festival at Riva center.
In a previous initiative, the Firehouse Subs Foundation made a positive impact in Annapolis, donating protective vests to the Annapolis Police Department in 2019, showcasing the brand’s commitment to community support.
As the situation develops, community members are urged to share their thoughts and experiences regarding the closure. For anyone with additional information or news tips, please reach out to Benjamin Rothstein at [email protected] or call 443-928-1926.
