UPDATE: The Fargo-Moorhead area is buzzing with significant business developments as 2025 unfolds. Kwik Trip and Kwik Star convenience stores have officially opened their doors, marking a major expansion in the region. The first Kwik Trip opened at 1409 Main Ave. S.E. in Moorhead on October 9, followed by Kwik Star at 2530 12th Ave. S. in Fargo on November 20. This expansion introduces fresh, made-to-order food options like pizza and breakfast sandwiches, capitalizing on the growing demand for quality convenience offerings.
The excitement doesn’t stop there. Just announced, Taco John’s is returning to the Fargo-Moorhead area after more than a year. Pentex Restaurant Group, the largest franchisee of Taco John’s, filed for a building permit on October 10 to renovate a former Taco John’s at 4522 26th Ave. S. The company anticipates a grand reopening on January 5, 2026, with plans for up to three locations within the next 18 to 24 months, as confirmed by CEO Brett Itterman.
In another groundbreaking move, Waabigwan Mashkiki, Minnesota’s first tribal cannabis shop located off a reservation, opened its doors on May 24 at 2902 Highway 10 in Moorhead. This historic launch follows the legalization of recreational cannabis in Minnesota on August 1, 2023. The shop sources cannabis from a cultivation facility on the White Earth Reservation. Meanwhile, entrepreneur Darren Dado is working to transform a former Burger King at 100 21st St. N. into a cannabis dispensary, anticipating retail sales to commence once permits clear—a process that has proven lengthy and challenging for many in the industry.
The region is also seeing a surge in entertainment venues. Levity, a new family-friendly destination featuring an arcade, pizza parlor, and tumble gym, opened in June at 344 Sheyenne Street in West Fargo. Co-owner Linzey Erickson emphasizes community engagement, aiming to partner with local businesses for special events like “Parent Night Out.”
Following closely, Slick City Action Park debuted in November at 3430 Jacks Way S. in Fargo, boasting thrilling slides engineered by a former NASA specialist. Additionally, the upcoming NRG Adventure Park, set to open soon in the former Gordman’s at 5100 14th Ave. S., will feature an unprecedented mix of attractions, including ninja courses and foam pits.
These developments highlight the dynamic business landscape in Fargo-Moorhead, creating new job opportunities and enhancing community engagement. As the region continues to evolve, residents and visitors alike can expect more exciting changes ahead. Stay tuned for the latest updates on these unfolding stories.
