UPDATE: Robert J. Recker, a beloved figure in Allentown, has passed away at the age of 92. He died on Friday, December 26, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital – Allentown Campus. This loss resonates deeply in the community where he made significant contributions throughout his life.
Recker, a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, was known for his dedication and service. He was the husband of the late Marlene E. (Webster) Recker, who passed away in 1998. Born and raised in Allentown, Recker left a lasting impact as a foreman at Prior Coated Metal and later as a restaurant owner of notable establishments like The Red Cove and the Episcopal House Restaurant.
His commitment to the community extended to his work with Lehigh County, where he served in maintenance at Cedar View Apartments until his retirement. A member of Faith Church in Allentown, Recker was also an accomplished woodworker, reflecting his passion for craftsmanship.
Recker is survived by his daughters, Deborah L. Recker and Tami M. Transue, as well as two grandsons, Timothy A. Horlacher and Brett R. Horlacher. His family, along with the community, mourns the loss of a man who touched many lives.
The public is invited to pay their respects during a viewing scheduled for 10-11 AM on Friday, January 2, 2026, followed by a funeral service at 11 AM at the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, located at 46 E. Susquehanna Street, Allentown. Military honors will be rendered during his interment at Cedar Hill Memorial Park on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Recker’s memory to a charity of your choice, honoring his spirit of giving.
