Penguins Dominate Hershey 5-2 for Third Straight Win

UPDATE: The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have just secured a commanding 5-2 victory over the Hershey Bears, marking their third consecutive win against their rivals. This decisive game took place on Saturday night at Mohegan Arena, where the Penguins showcased their dominance right from the first period.

In an explosive start, the Penguins netted five goals in the opening period alone, establishing an early lead that set the tone for the match. Just two minutes into the game, Nolan Renwick lit the lamp, followed shortly by Raivis Ansons finding the back of the net to give WBS a quick 2-0 advantage. Although Hershey managed to score, the Penguins responded with back-to-back goals from Gabe Klassen and Phil Tomasino, extending the lead to 5-1 before the first intermission.

Both teams registered 21 shots, but the Penguins capitalized on their opportunities far more effectively. Goaltender Sergei Murashov stood out with a solid performance, stopping 19 of 21 shots to secure the win.

This latest victory propels the Penguins to a three-point lead over Providence in the highly competitive Atlantic Division. Meanwhile, Hershey slips to fifth place, trailing Charlotte and Lehigh Valley.

Looking ahead, the Penguins will face Lehigh Valley on Sunday at 3 p.m.. Following that, they will host Charlotte on Tuesday before heading to Syracuse next Saturday.
