Salvatore Maimone, 88, Passes Away; Service Details Announced

URGENT UPDATE: Salvatore Maimone, an esteemed member of the Schenectady community, has passed away at the age of 88. He died peacefully on December 23, 2025, at Capstone Nursing Home, leaving behind a legacy of family and friendship.

Born on March 26, 1937, in Meri, Messina, Sicily, Maimone immigrated to the United States in 1971 with his wife, Antonina, and their children. He became a respected mason for Local 190 in Albany, contributing significantly to the local construction community. A member of the Sons of Italy on Hamburg Street, Sal was known for his community spirit and dedication.

Maimone was predeceased by his beloved wife in 2006. He is survived by his children, Giuseppe and Orazio Maimone, as well as his grandchildren: Nicolina, Angelo, Kamden, Ava, Sal, Anthony, and Roberto. He also leaves behind his sister, Anna, from Italy, along with great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A calling hour is scheduled for Monday, December 29, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, located at 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam. This will be followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m. Maimone will then be interred at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
