Officers responded to reports of a man lying on the ground on Baymeadows Drive shortly after the shooting. They found 35-year-old Jordan Warren with a gunshot wound in his chest. Despite immediate medical assistance, Warren was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at South Georgia Medical Center.
Witnesses reported that two individuals approached Warren, brandishing a firearm and demanding a bag. In a desperate attempt to escape, Warren drew his own weapon. Gunfire erupted, resulting in his fatal injury.
Video footage from nearby surveillance cameras was critical in identifying the suspects. The evidence led police to a residence in the 1500 block of Baymeadows Drive, where they arrested 18-year-old Jeremiah Albritton and a 16-year-old boy who matched descriptions provided by witnesses.
Authorities have charged both suspects with felony murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Albritton is currently detained at Lowndes County Jail, while the 16-year-old has been taken to a Regional Youth Detention Center.
The Valdosta Police Department also deployed their K9 Unit to search the vicinity, uncovering additional evidence linked to the robbery. A search warrant executed at the suspects’ residence yielded further findings that strengthened the case against them.
As this investigation continues, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation will perform an autopsy on Warren. Officials stress that this is a developing situation, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
