Teen Dies in Stratford Crash; Passenger Hospitalized After Collision

URGENT UPDATE: A tragic car crash in Stratford has claimed the life of an 18-year-old, identified as Valentin Junior Collazo from Thomaston, and left another teen injured. The incident occurred just before midnight on October 15, 2023, on Route 15 South near Exit 36.

According to Connecticut State Police, Collazo lost control of his 2010 Mazda 3i while driving in the left lane. The vehicle veered to the right, sliding sideways before crashing into a rock wall. Emergency responders arrived swiftly at the scene after receiving reports of a serious collision.

Despite immediate CPR efforts, Collazo was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries. The passenger, a 17-year-old girl from Plymouth, was also taken to the same hospital but is expected to recover from her injuries, which authorities believe to be minor.
