URGENT UPDATE: The Knoxville Police Department (KPD) is actively investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Friday evening on E. Magnolia Avenue. Officers responded to the scene shortly before 8:30 p.m., where they found an 18-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot of the 2300 block near Olive Street.
Despite immediate medical assistance provided by KPD officers, the victim was pronounced dead at UT Medical Center. Authorities have not yet released his identity as the investigation continues. Reports suggest that the shooting may have been preceded by an altercation inside a nearby building, according to WATE.
No suspects have been identified or charged at this time. KPD spokesperson Scott Erland stated,
“The circumstances surrounding the shooting are unconfirmed at this time and remain under investigation.”
