Navy Sailor Arrested for Double Murder After Deadly Confrontation

UPDATE: A Navy sailor, Taylor Lomax, aged 22, has been arrested and charged with the double murder of his two roommates, Noely Makenda (21) and Jordyn Forrestier (20), following a violent confrontation at their home in Orange Park, Florida. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Lomax is being held without bond on two counts of second-degree murder.

The deadly incident occurred late Wednesday night when an argument escalated into a physical altercation outside their residence on Hanging Moss Road. Reports indicate Lomax’s wife was present during the confrontation, which turned fatal when Lomax allegedly fired approximately 30 shots from a firearm. The victims were found dead in the front yard when deputies arrived shortly after a 911 call was made by Lomax’s wife.

In a statement to News4JAX, Lomax’s mother, Tomika, expressed concern over the accuracy of reports regarding the circumstances of the incident. She indicated that claims about her daughter-in-law merely visiting the home are misleading, asserting that Lomax’s wife actually lived there and had just returned from Birmingham, Alabama.

The sheriff’s department has not released detailed information regarding the motive behind the shooting. However, the shocking nature of this incident, involving three active-duty members of the U.S. Navy, has left the local community reeling.

As investigations continue, Lomax’s wife declined to comment further, stating that she does not yet have legal representation. This tragic event highlights the urgent need for discussions around mental health and conflict resolution, especially within military communities.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is expected to provide further updates as details emerge, and the community is left grappling with the aftermath of this horrific event.
