Community Mourns Loss of Beloved Coach Sally Cooper, 71, Dies

Sally was born on November 4, 1953, in Long Beach, California, and moved to Santa Cruz as a child. She graduated from Soquel High School in 1971, where she met her husband, Kevin Cooper. The couple celebrated 54 years of marriage, creating a loving family that includes three sons, Chris, Brian, and Jake, a daughter, Amy, and five cherished grandchildren: Bradley, Troy, Logan, Kendall, and Kenzie.

Known for her unwavering commitment to youth sports, Sally dedicated numerous years to coaching youth soccer, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of countless children and families in the community. Sally’s funeral mass will take place on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church located at 435 Monterey Ave, Capitola. In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made to the SPCA in her memory, reflecting Sally’s love for animals, particularly her cherished cat, William.
